More on the Twitter hack

Twitter has, last week, provided further information about the hack of their system.

They say:

“ As our investigation continues, we’re sharing an update to answer some of the remaining questions... The social engineering that occurred on July 15, 2020, targeted a small number of employees through a phone spear phishing attack. ... the attackers targeted 130 Twitter accounts, ultimately Tweeting from 45, accessing the DM inbox of 36, and downloading the Twitter Data of 7. ”

Reading the rest of their post it is clear that they are beginning to take security much more seriously, lets hope that these measures are not only sufficient, but that they persist, and the users do not revert to old practices.
