Data Viper databases breached

First some background. Data Viper is a security research firm that collates nearly 15 billion usernames, passwords and other information that has been exposed in over 8,000 website breaches. Seems like a juicy target for hackers. Well it has been compromised. According to Krebs on Security nearly 2 billion records from databases on Data Viper servers have been put up for sale on the dark web.
