I remember when cash registers were mechanical and a credit card swipe was a clack-clack machine with paper and carbon paper.
Then they became electronic. And then got connected to the internet because we demanded not only more data, but data right away.
The days of connecting your devices to the internet because, well, you know, the internet, everyone is doing it, are over.
Cash Register / Card Swipe machines now fall into the broad IoT category. But these are dangerous because you are dealing with people's money. I wonder what the GDPR fine would be should this have happened in Europe?
