New Mac Ransomware Spread Via Pirated Software
A Twitter user going by the handle @beatsballert messaged Malwarebytes Labs on 29 June after learning of an apparently malicious Little Snitch installer available for download on a Russian forum dedicated to sharing torrent links.
In attempting the replicate the infaction Malwarebytes eventually got the malware to encrypt settings files and the keychain files, thus producing error messages and spinning beach balls.
This is the latest in a line of malware attacks targeting Mac users in particular.
