If you still use XP you need to prepare for the worst

What the recent ransomware attack showed is that there are still hundreds of millions of computers out there running XP. Hopefully most of those have been patched by now but, guess what?

While Microsoft has patched this one. There is no guarantee that they will do it again in the future. And there are still exploits to he discovered when your attack surface is this large. It's bound to happen again.
