Petya may be worse than first thought
It seems that the Goldeneye variant of Petya was never meant to be able to decrypt the files held to ransom.
The reason being that the press would blame "them hackers". The fact that this primarily targeted companies in Ukraine seems to indicate that this is a government sponsored cyber attack meant to seriously affect a country's infrastructure and financial stability. This is almost certainly an act of war.
